Our Story
Chef Sabry was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. At a young age, he began pursuing his dream of becoming a chef by working at Zephyrion Seafood in Alexandria, where he learned from Egyptian, Greek, and Italian chefs.
Chef Sabry came to the United States in 1985. Shortly after arriving, he continued pursuing his passion for cooking and became known within the Egyptian community for his expertise in seafood. When you visit us, be sure to say hello to Chef Sabry.

I came here once before with a buddy of mine and had a great time—the food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Fantastic seafood, everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Yasin made us feel completely at home with his warm hospitality and attention to detail.
I highly recommend grilled octopus and grilled sea bass!

Simply THE BEST of THE BEST! I am a branzino lover and Sabry’s branzino surpasses them all! The fish soup is amazing! The staff and especially Yasser is the most efficient, kind and professional ! I live in Miami and the second I land in NYC I go to Sabry’s!

My partner grew up coming here with his parents, and once he brought me, I completely understood why. Now it’s become one of our own family traditions. Every friend we’ve brought has returned on their own. It’s easily the best place to eat on all of Steinway.
The seafood is authentic Egyptian and incredibly fresh. You pick your fish or lobster right off the ice, and it’s cooked to order. Sabry himself is often in the kitchen, so the food is always up to standard every time.
The bread arrives steaming hot and somehow even the simple salad is delicious. My favorite is the eggplant—we order it every time. Our go-to entrée is the butterflied branzino, which is perfectly cooked. The calamari and mussels are also incredible. The whole menu is. Just keep an eye out for the bones since it’s a whole fish.
Come hungry. The portions are generous, the seafood is exceptional, and it’s one of those rare underrated New York places that live up to the hype.

This place is something else. I came with my dad, husband, and sister, and we had an absolute blast from start to finish.
My dad is Egyptian, so food like this carries real meaning for our family, and Sabrys delivered in every way. The moment we walked in, we were met with the kind of warmth and hospitality that makes you feel like a guest of honor. They treat everyone that way, which makes it even more special.
The meal began with fresh housemade bread! The best ! Then we got incredible hummus, baba ganoush, and salad, and then came the fish. Honestly, the best fish I’ve ever had, and we’ve dined at wonderful restaurants all over the country. We ordered the mussels, grilled platter with calamari, shrimp, and salmon, plus a fried combo that was light and perfectly done. Not greasy, just real home cooking, like your Egyptian grandmother made it. The branzino was outstanding, and the rice brought me straight back to childhood.
Every dish tasted like it was made with genuine love and care, because it was. If you want to eat somewhere that feeds your soul as much as your stomach, come here. Come every week to truly enjoy life!

I’m still thinking about this meal.
Everything was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The grilled octopus was tender with just the right amount of char, the lobster was sweet and succulent, and the seafood platter was loaded with scallops, shrimp, and calamari that tasted like they came straight off the boat. Every dish was seasoned beautifully without overpowering the natural flavors of the seafood.
What really surprised me was the value. For roughly $80 total, this felt like a meal that could easily cost significantly more elsewhere. Generous portions, high-quality ingredients, and not a single disappointing bite.
Simple, authentic, and absolutely delicious. If you’re a seafood lover, this is the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit

The seafood was fresh and cooked very well. If you're looking for delicious food rather than a fancy dining experience, this is a good choice
Most of the dishes were flavorful and enjoyable
the only disappointment was the fried shrimp
which wasn't as good as expected.
Overall I had a good experience and would come back. 😋

Came in for a birthday lunch and was super impressed between the service, flavors and freshness of the seafood! Between 2 people we ordered the seafood platter for 2 [which came with 2 rices] and shrimp soup which was more than enough - we'd ended up taking home the leftovers! They gave us complimentary pita and salad as well, 10/10 recommend and my partner wants to come back with his friends for another celebration soon 🥳
